Organic or not to organic.

High organic listing - page one or page two in Google - is where all companies hope their websites will feature. So if that is your hope, and the hopes of say 100 000 other people (conservatively speaking) running a similar or related type of business/service, how does one achieve this?

Strategically, high ranking is acieved through a collection of activites aimed at increasing your website's visibility to potential clients and to Google. The more visble one's website is, the greater the chance that people will click on it. Bottom line, the more clicks a website receives, the more relevant Google sees your website and guess what, the higher your website will rank.

Being more visible to Google:
This is achieved in the structure of the published website. Google bots will analyze a website based on the meta data, title pages, alt tags, h-tags, xml site maps, internal links, back links and most importantly the content. Take the time to do this correctly yourself or ensure your website designer/developer does.

Being more visible to potential clients:
This aspect of your website comes down to your online marketing strategy. Think about some of the potential avenues that users could be exposed to your url. This could take the form of online
advertising for example through Google AdWords, Facebook Ads or even banner placements, email stationery with website links, social media, submissions to online business directories and search engines.

These SEO ideas if implemented correctly and you maintain the activity, you're bound to achieve organic ranking success, and possibly that position on page one.

Finding your online market

Search Engine Optimisation, or rather SEO, is the practice of optimising a website to increase the possibility of being found online.

Many companies often come to Digital Dynamite looking to get their website ranked number one on Google Searches. I often smile at my client, and inform them that SEO is unfortunately not an exact science, however our task is to scrutinize their website and employ some leading SEO tactics to get them on the first page. And after a few minutes of discussion with them, they realise that it is not as simple as a click of a mouse to achieve this result.

In our experience with offering our Monthly Magic product to our website clients, we have identified a few key Search Engine Optimisation tactics that drastically improve website ranking results. Here are some of our tips to achieving this:

The meta tags: Often website developers/designers setup meta data for their clients and add dozens of words, with several variations of the same term over and over. Our advice is keep it to a minimum. Choose up to 8 key words or phrases that are specific and clearly relate to your business and stick to these. Think to yourself 'what terms/words do I want to rank highly in' and go with these.

Page Titles: People more often than not don't put much importance into their websites page titles. Or they choose a single word that relates to 10% of their business and apply this throughout their websites page titles. A good practice is to have your company name as the fixed part of your page title, and add key terms specific to that individual page's content as the variable part of your page titles.

Over the next few posts we will cover additional SEO tips such as content, subscriptions, image titles, analytics.
